Thanks for chiming in. How do I  set a max number of authors? And what
about the title length (it often comes from bibtex imports).

In any case, wouldn't make sense to make a length check on the variable
that holds the candidate filename and issue a stopping warning to the user
to correct the entry or amend the filename somwhow?
