I modded up a little round mirror that was on the desk as the bike was
in the room here--you're right, you get leg, but you can pull in your
thigh if it's mounted diagonally down and get enough in the field to
check for passing cars. I'm liking the idea--as I gave up on mirrors
when I used to use narrow flat bars in Chicago to commute--and no
mirror could take urban abuse. With the "antlers" of the trekking bar,
the mirror gets protected.
There's also a bar end mirror that some of the older roadies use
around here when they ride pace line that I think could be perfect
with a trekking bar. I'll see if I can scare up a link
At any rate--it's a really excellent bar. I've toyed with putting a
Campy "Shimergo" front end on my bike to shift an 8 speed rear Shimano
cluster--but I'll tell ya what, I can ride in comfort all day with the
trekking bar--and if you need to run a twist type shifter, it's the
best game in town.
I'll see if I can find that nifty mirror for you.
