Thank you for all the suggestions. I use this bike for commuting, errand running, general riding and occasional trail riding, it's my rough use bike. Mtb knobbies don't handle very well and feel sluggish plus they won't fit with fenders. The paselas in 1.5 were the ones that I had sidewall issues with and this doesn't seem to be an isolated incidence.
