True. Of the 8 or so Brooks and Ideale saddles I've owned, I've only 
had to retension one of them, after quite a few miles, including a 
lot of rain riding (in the UK, of course--where else?).

Sometimes all-leather saddles will splay out. You can fix this by 
drilling (or burning) several holes in each side (near the logos), 
and lacing them back together with leather boot laces.
