White Industries makes by far the best Campy compatible rear hubs. I prefer them to Campagnolo. DT has a poor record of providing parts for older hubs. Phil Wood and King don't make Campy compatible rear hubs. And why anyone would want to use a King hub on the road and have to listen to that racket every time you coast is a great mystery to me. King hubs are terrific for riding singletrack since you get instant engagement of the drive ring. That makes it easier to pick your way through a rocky trail without bottoming a pedal. But most roads have a serious shortage of boulders on the pavement, most of the time. ;-) > > I know I could usually get a special gear cluster from Wheels > Manufacturing, that although splined for Shimano, has spacing for and > is therefore usable on a Campy 10 speed drive train; but, there's a > notice on the Wheel Manufacturing web site that clearly states that > their special gear cluster is not compatible with the Chris King > hubs. ... just a little frustrating! Not nearly as frustrating as trying to hear approaching automobiles from the rear when wearing earplugs to cut the screaming from the King hub. ;-) > > Are there other brand names that I should be considering, in this endeavor? Not if you want top quality. Velocity makes a fairly good Campy spec hub. But it's hardly in the same league as the White Industries. And since it's a rebadged Formula hub, I doubt that parts availability will be nearly as good ten years down the road. White Industries supplies parts for any hub they've ever made. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Bicycle Lifestyle" group.
