Grrr.... I hate it when that happens.  I have Pedro cutters and try to
be very careful, but sometimes I end up with a compressed end.  I then
take a series of finish nails and starting from the smallest carefully
twist them into the crushed end.  It helps to grip the back end of the
nail with a pair of pliers so you can turn it.  This has always
allowed me to reround the housing.
