There's this concern, yes. Personally I was on the fence for some
time, but now that
we have a pretty healthy branch-0.3 in Bigtop for Hadoop 1.X based work it feels
like it would be a benefit to the community if we can expose Hadoop
2.X in that same
way. It is a bit of a chicken'n'egg problem here: we don't want to
force a wobbly platform
down user's throats, but on the other hand, if nobody uses the
platform it won't stabilize
for a long time. At this point I think the benefits of making it
available as part of a complete
distribution outweigh the drawbacks.

But you're right -- it is not a clear cut decision -- hence this email.
