Roman Shaposhnik commented on BIGTOP-723:
-----------------------------------------

@Johnny: I suggest we use this JIRA for tracking the Solr work. It is entirely
possible, of course, to open subtask JIRAs of this one.

@Erick: thanks for the heads up! As you can see I'm still pointing to the
latest RC in my bigtop.mk but we'll change that once the actual release gets
published.

@Bruno: "init script has the string flume-ng all over it" now you know why it
was so fast ;-) I'll fix that sorry for a little bit of a noise. As for the
bin/solrd launcher script I believe it follow the usual way for our
Tomcat-based webapps (unless there's a bug or two that I'm not seeing).
Basically, we put SOLR specific things in /etc/default/solr but all of the
internal details of CATALINA are hidden inside of the script itself. This way
we can always migrate to a different J2EE servlet container without upsetting
existing user deployments.

> I've asked the devs and adding Solr to the stack seems like a Good Thing. I
> can help with the testing, but I'm new enough to BigTop that it's
> questionable how much of the actual _work_ I'll be able to contribute....
