Just wanted to bring everyone up to date on the SEPTA situation. The agency is proposing to extend the one bike per car rule to seven days a week, which means no more groups without a reservation even on weekends. Please continue to send your concerns about this policy change to SEPTA customer service. http://www.septa.org/inside/custserv.html
I also want you to know that the Bicycle Coalition is working diligently to prevent this. In fact we want to make sure that SEPTA routinely design bike access on all rail cars using racks and folding seats. If you are not familiar with bikemap.com then I suggest you take a look at it. The website features a photo gallery of bikes on transit, its worth looking at if you are cotemplating to write a letter to septa to show that they can do better with bike on rail access. http://www.bikemap.com/transit/photos.htm#Trains In the meantime if you are traveling with more than one person we don't want you stranded. Please go ahead and make that reservation. 215-580-8403 at least 24 hours before the trip.
