Did you know that;

American imports two-thirds of its oil from foreign sources. Even before
September 11th, the cost to taxpayers of protecting foreign oil sources was over $50
billion a year. If the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge was opened for drilling,
it would only produce 2% of the oil Americans consume each year.
(Frontiers of Freedom/ National Resources Defense Council)

Transit generates economic growth and jobs. Washington DC Metrorail and the
development it fostered is projected to generate 90,000 jobs and a
net gain of $1.2 billion in tax revenue from 1978 to 2010. (D.C. Metrorail)

For 80 million Americans who don't drive because they are too young, too old, disabled
or can't afford a car, public transportation provides needed mobility and access to
school, church, work and play. (American Public Transit Association)

How can we create jobs, generate tax revenue, preserve open space, improve the quality
of life in our communities, reduce congestion and give mobility to our children and
aging parents?
