John Wood, Montgomery County's Open Space Planner announced yesterday that
the opening day for the Schuylkill River Trail/Perkiomen Trail connection
will be Saturday June 1. In time for the Bicycle Coalition's Freedom Valley
Bike Ride on June 16.

How can you tell which trail you are on - The Schuylkill River Trail will be
paved and the Perkiomen Trail will be gravel. Note that there is a chance
that paving migh not be completed for the FVBR.

If paving is finished by June 16 the Freedom Valley Bike Ride will join the
SRT at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park at Egypt Rd in Oaks. Otherwise hybrids
and mtb's can explore the new trail while road cyclists will continue to
follow the road route to Valley Forge. An update on the status of the
surface will be issued before the ride.
