 thanks for keeping us informed.

 To answer the question posed below, we know to know what the
land use plans are for the next 20 years. If the surrounding area
is to remain in farmland, it would probably be OK to maintain
a smaller width. But if, as I suspect, the area will become
developed, then there will be a great deal more car traffic, and
the extra width will be neccesary.
At that point, the 'rural character' of the area will be largely
lost anyway.
