There is actually a well organized group putting this together called
the East Coast Greenway. People have been working on this for about ten

I have always thought that someone should start a similar project in
the midwest. It seems to me that if we sat down with some good maps, we
are not taht far off from a trail network connecting Minneapolis and
Chicago with a circle connecting Chicago-Milwaukee-Madison and
connections to Iowa as well. Heck, we might even be able to finish this
trail network before high speed rail!
