MadCity Cycling needs your help on June 1! We're organizing and promoting
the state road cycling championships, and we need people to help us make this
a safe and enjoyable event.

Who is MadCity Cycling? We're a group of your friends and neighbors
who also happen to be bicycle racing enthusiasts. We're not professionals,
just average people who participate in bike racing for the love of the
sport.

What is the state road cycling championships? A day-long series of races
for riders of all ages and abilities, from 10 and 12-year olds to those in
their 40s, 50s, and maybe older, from beginners to professionals. Racers
in different categories will cover varying distances over a challenging course
just west of Madison.

In order to ensure the safety of the race we need volunteers to handle duties
such as controlling traffic at intersections on the course. Everyone in our
club will be working at the race, but it's too big an event for us to handle
alone, so we need your help!

* The lowdown:

What: The Capital Brewery state road cycling championships.

When: Saturday, June 1, 2002. Races will take place most of the day,
but we'll have people help out in half-day shifts (unless you really
want to help all day).

Where: Dane County just west of Madison (Middleton/Cross Plains/etc.).

What's in it for you?:
- A chance to see some of the best endurance athletes in the state take
  on one of the toughest courses in the state.
- A chance at one of two $25 Trek Bicycle Store gift certificates that
  will be randomly awarded to race volunteers.
- A change to help your friends and neighbors put on a great event that
  helps the community and provides a safe, challenging, and exciting day
  of racing for the participants.
- A free T-shirt, lunch, and a chance to win stuff at a raffle organized
  by the Cross Plains Lions club.

What do you need to do?:  Just let us know if you're willing to help;
we'll provide detailed information about your tasks on race day. You don't
need to be familiar with bike racing to volunteer.
