Below is my letter to DNR secretary Darrell Bazzell.  It wouldn't hurt if he heard from som other bicyclists.

Dear Mr. Bazzell:

Chronic wasting disease in Wisconsin's deer population is a serious problem that requires an aggressive response.  While I fully support the reduction in deer population in the affected area, I am greatly concerned that public safety may be put at risk by allowing land owners and recreational hunters to hunt for extended periods of time, particularly during the summer months.  The only safe way to quickly eradicate large numbers of deer is to have professionals do the job.  This will, of course, cost more, but I do not believe the cost savings could justify placing people's lives in danger.  It would truly be a tragedy if the first human CWD fatality was a farmer, motorist, or bicyclist killed by a careless hunter's bullet.  Since Wisconsin's extremely large deer population has been allowed to exist for the benefit of hunters and the businesses which profit from hunting, it is they who should pay the cost.
