That's true. the point is that since the definition of a bar is something
like "an establishment with more than 50% of its revenues resulting from
the sale of alcoholic beverages" (no, I don't know if that's the correct
percentage, and I'm sure that it's not the actual wording, but we do make a
distinction between "bars" and "restaurants" in this city), then the
parking lots of "bars" should probably be *required* to be 50% smaller than
a "restaurant" with the same number of patrons.

Of course, this brings up the whole issue of *minimum* parking
requirements, which many progressive municipalities (in the state of
Oregon, e.g.) are simply changing to *maximum* parking requirements. The
developers love it because it costs them less to build the same square
footage of any land use, and it mitigates one of the hidden (actually,
overlooked) subsidies to automobile transportation.

besides, some of the best "bars", e.g. Crystal Corner, from my experience,
serve no edible food.
