It never ceases to amaze me how careful the media always are to avoid any mention of the source of that wonderful hydrogen fuel, or of the energy required to separate it from water, or whatever. Like electric cars, I see the whole thing as nothing but yet another attempt to further satisfy corporate greed, while ignoring the fundamental problem. That problem is simply that it takes enormous amounts of energy to travel around in automobiles. (You can pedal your bike 1,500 miles on the energy in a gallon of gasoline.) Whether that energy ultimately comes from gasoline, hydrogen, electricity, or corn oil, it has to come from SOMEWHERE. Unfortunately, the amount of money spent on auto transportation makes it unlikely government, and certainly business, will support energy efficient transportation and lifestyles.
