Not sure if you were joking on this, but many alternative transportation folks
will point out that electric cars, hydrogen cars, and hybrid cars are still
CARS. 

While I am not one of those people that believes that cars are inherently evil,
the infrastructure and governmental structures that are needed to make them
useful: big roads, parking lots, other impermeable surfaces, police and EMS
services for crashes, enviromental remediation for air or water due to
pollution and run-off (air pollution may be lessened, but water is still
running off), health services because people drive instead of walk/bike, and
all sorts of other personal and social costs are very expensive compared to
building communities where driving is lessened and other transportation choices
are easier.

After all - why buy a hydrogen car when you can walk to the bus, quickly be
transported to work or shopping and then repeat on the way home? Owning a car -
of any sort - should be optional, not expected.
