Hello,

I realized that my thoughts in my previous post were not completely thought out. I fell into the trap of not thinking big enough. We do have a huge chance here with E. Washington. Not only should E. Wash have continuous bike lanes to Sun Prairie, but also subway tubes underneath. The bike lanes and subway together become a traffic solution.

I just do not see how above ground rail alone can make this city the way it should be. Subways are out of site and do not interrupt above ground transportation routes.

But people will say it costs money. That is what money is for. Look at all the expensive SUVs on the road. If so many people can afford those then we can afford a subway.

Of course I also think subways should be added all over the city.

Am I thinking big enough yet? Not yet. Shrink the beltline to the size of East Wash, add bike paths and subways, and then add infill development. This would result in increased passenger capacity and increased tax base. Now that is thinking big. Can anybody think bigger?

Torrey
