Fitchburg Bikies (and those that work, play and shop in Fitchburg)- Fitchburg has funding in their capital budget to build a bridge over Fish Hatchery Rd at the Capital City Trail. But some members of the city council want to cut the funding. If you are concerned about this, please call your elected officials.
This is a BAD intersection - especially if you are traveling east to west. Drivers southbound on Fish Hatchery make a right on red and DO NOT check for pedestrian-bike traffic that have the WALK light. I have come very close to being nailed doing exactly that on several ocassions. Because there are natural rises on either side of the road, the bridge would be significantly cheaper to build than a normal overpass. And 80% of the funding will be covered by Enhancements (if that money still exists.) So Fitchburg only has to come up with 20% of the cost.
