This is interesting because it explains a graph I saw in Germany by
(I think) the World Wildlife Fund back in the late 80's showing how
certain elements of hydrocarbon air pollution actually went *down*
significantly after the 50's & through the 60s & 70s as people
switched from scooters to deathmobiles. They weren't trying to
promote the deathmobile, it was more to drive home the point that the
correct answer to the transportation question is das Rad.

My disdain for mopeds lies in the fact that they emit the same amount of
pollutants as 50-100 automobiles. It's not what I want to breathe as I'm
pedaling to work, shop or play.
