It turns out the 'compromise' we won was severely compromised. While 4-laning of the road stopped at Heartland Trail, the expansion of the intersection with Pleasant View was always a done deal. And now its done. Are there any 2-lane escape routes left? Oh yeah, Pheasant Branch Road. But thats on the Endangered Routes list.
