I am in no way suggesting banning motor vehicles (MVs). I am simply saddened
that we have so structured our lives and engineered our environment that
driving seems to be a necessity instead of a choice. Thus people who really
shouldn't drive continue to do so.

People have no other way of getting around.
We refuse to seriously punish people who have proven unable to drive
responsibly.
All other living things must bow to the power of the MV: plants, small (or
large) animals, walkers, runners, bicyclists, children, the drivers of smaller
vehicles.

We pave so much of our environment, it is so sad. And in almost every case the
paving is to accommodate the use or storage of a MV. (square footage of
multi-use paths or backyard patios compared to roads, parking lots, and
driveways.)

If any other entity is close to a road, they take their life in their hands. So
wrong.

Make driving a choice, not a need. Make paving a small part of the environment,
not the normal surface of life. Make a driver's LICENSE mean something. Hard to
get. Important to hold onto. Easy to revoke. Serious penalties for being caught
without one when driving.

I'm not anti-car; I'm anti car dependence.
