This year's fundraiser is critical to pull this 501(c)(3) charitable organization, with a mission to "help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world through hostelling," through the winter. Normally, the full house through the summer months pumps up the finances enough to get us through the high gas bill months. But given the impact of our current US administration's international policies, our summer business was significantly off. Many of our normal clients have been kept out by the newly draconian visa system. The example in the appended message below is but one of many cancellations we have received from travellers barred from entering this country.

We believe that the Madison Hostel is a major asset to the Madison
community. Our hostel puts Madison on the world map, making Madison
a destination that would otherwise never even be considered by many
travellers--from this country and abroad.

Please, come by Sunday evening to support our efforts to bring the
world--and world peace--to Madison.

Feel free to stop by the Madison Hostel at 141 S. Butler (any day of
the week, 5 PM til 9 PM) to take a tour of this fun, safe, and very
clean accommodation.

Thanks for your support!
-Mike Barrett
Vice President, Madison Hostel
