Is more money for recreational trails so important that we don't mind losing
the store and everything inside? I certainly hope not.

Apparently, the bill is a done deal, no thanks to trail supporters.

To Friends of the Earth's Allied Transportation Activists -

The massive, multi-billion dollar federal transportation bill is currently in
the final stages of the congressional process. It is bloated with pet projects
for politicians and handouts to the highway industry, while rolling back key
environmental laws and giving transit the short end of the stick.

Friends of the Earth has summarized the bill's major rollbacks in this
TRANSPORTATION POLICY MEMO.

These radical changes to the Clean Air Act, the National Environmental
Policy Act, wildlife protections, and other key laws will significantly
limit the role citizens and local groups like those you work with can play in
defeating bad transportation projects and promoting good ones.

We urge you to take action by calling or writing your Congressperson and
Senator. If you have any questions, you can contact me at 202-222-0747 or

Thanks for all your hard work and support!
Best,
