I just received a call from MGE regarding access to their substation near Moorland Rd. The substation is just off the Capital City Trail (on the south side of the trail) between Industrial Drive and Moorland Road, about 600 feet west of Moorland Road. They normally take access to the substation from the Nine Springs sewage treatment plant on the south side of the substation. Apparently MMSD is doing some work on their property that has MGEs access drive blocked. They will be accessing the substation from the bike path (Capital City Trail) instead, entering the path from Moorland Rd and driving west the approximately 600 feet to the substation. Part of the agreement that allowed the Capital City Trail to be built in this area was to allow MGE access to the substation when necessary. They typically only access the substation once a day for inspection. They do not yet know how long this will last, but hopefully it is only a day or two. When on the path, their drivers are instructed to drive slowly and use all their flashers.
