Dear Bikies: I am new to your blog------but I did see this morning that you announced a spontaneous ride around the square. Our Ripon time-trial is likewise "a non-sanctioned ride." Please announce our race in your sheet--we have proven interesting enough for a number or riders/racers to come from Milwaukee. I got a automated message from a L Nelson, who appears on vacation. He will return AFTER our race next Sunday.

We feel that this race fulfills a role for those cyclists of any age who still want to be competetive--if, as in a "time-trial", the competition is with one's self. Eric -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Use as calendar Date: Fri, 01 Jul 2005 12:16:20 -0500 From: Eric Westhagen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Dear Bikies, For many years we, in Ripon, have put on an annual time-trial bicycle race open to everybody and every type of bicycle. It is ten miles in the countryside. We have spotters at the corners and charge no money. We require no pre-registration. Therefore, everything is free. It gets underway after 8:00 in the Ripon Barlow Park at the South end of Ripon on the grounds with the City festival--RiponFest. This year our Sunday date falls on July 10. The race honors a Ripon Bicycle Champion of the "first bicycle craze" in the 1890s, Louis Reed. Therefore, the race has always been called, the "Louis Reed 10-mile Ripon Time-Trial."
