For the old-timers in the group -

I am doing a talk with Dar, Jay Ferm, Mayor Dave, and Jeanne Hoffman on Madison and bike advocacy, bike culture, how we got here, etc at the National Bike Summit next week. Dar and I were trying to get a time line of significant events in Madison bike history. I'm hoping a few people on the list can give me some information. Below are a few questions, but if you think of other important dates or transitions, let me know. I know some of this info has been on the list previously, but some of it is lost until the BCP comes back.

I'm doing the talk on Friday, March 3, and I'll have my laptop with me, but I'd prefer to get the info sooner rather than later.

1. When did the Bikies list first appear?
2. When did the Bicycling Community Page first appear?
3. When did Bicycle Transportation Alliance start? (Was it in reaction to the threat to close the John No-lane path, or did it predate that?) 4. When was the Lake Monona path built? Was that the first path in the city? (Except for the campus Lake Shore path?)

By the way, we found out that Madison's first bike route plan was in 1971. The first bike plan that incorporated safety, education, and enforcement was in 1975.

Thanks.
