Just thought I'd throw in a comment about the number of news stories
that now seem to mention bikes or bicyclists concerns on a regular basis.
The Ghost Bikes has generated quite a bit of talk over the last few
days. And there are often stories about races or charity rides. But I
also smile when I see quotes about the need for bike facilities or
consideration of bike transportation in other stories. Makes me think
there has been some progress in "normalizing" biking as a legitimate
form of getting around.
One example today was the story about the city's use of chip sealing on
residential streets:

Although we all know how much we hate pea gravel, at least the Streets
Division and mainstream media are also aware of the issues. Nice to see
bicyclists concerns and comments included right along with home owners
and city staff.
