"Many people in the US accept a fairly high risk of traffic collisions in motor vehicles, or being struck by motorists while walking, yet they want absolutely zero risk when bicycling. Cycling has as low or lower rates of injury per time spent in the activity compared to motoring or walking in urban areas, so the idea that cycling, the least dangerous activity, is somehow "deadly", is a public misperception that desperately needs to be corrected though education. Average bicycling is about as safe as motoring, and that skilled bicycling is much safer still." - Dan Gutierrez , Aerospace Cycling Club, Founder and Current President Long Beach Cyclists, Technical Advisory Committee Chair CA Assoc. of Bicycling Organizations (CABO), District 7 Director League of American Bicyclists (LAB), Certified Instructor, LCI #962
