Somehow, buzzing to close to bicycles on country rounds is different than the addictive behavior of drinking and then driving. Also, I am sort of a "night person" and I have never seen a bicycle safety advertisement aimed at motorists rather than at children and helmets. And something more modest might be information to local country police. I got no response from local law when I was last brushed by a pick-up truck mirror. Local police have other agendas than bicycles. But my comments were directed more toward defensive riding--that of riding a few feet inside the lane rather than right on the edgeline. In that way, most cars are forced over the center line and that is a mental barrier for many in our auto driving population. Once over the center line, they usually leave wide berth. But if it looks like they can squeeze within the lane, whether there is on coming traffic or not, they will zing past in disregard.
