Subject: [SASYNA-Discussions] L/M pair AND principals restored!

Congrats everyone, the Lapham/Marquette pair has been restored and we can expect to have principals at each school, as opposed to one shared across the pair.

Beth Moss, Carol Carstnsen, Lucy Mathiak, Johnny Winston ad May Cole voted for the budget amendment that made it all possible.

Beth Moss made the original motion, including cutting on of our principals, as expected. Under questioning by Johnny Winston, the administration acknowledged that lower enrollment figures at Sherman Middle School mean that there is current as excess assistant principal. That position will be cut, allowing Marquette and Lapham to each retain a principal.

Four of the Affiliated Alternative programs will be housed at Lapham: SAPAR, Cluster, AERO and Wee Start. The Brearly St. Work-Learn program will be housed at Marquette.

Please thank the five members for their votes.

And thank one another for all the hard work of the last couple weeks!

MJ

PS - zinger of the night goes to Board Member Lawrie Kobza, who as she explained why she was standing by her vote to close Marquette: "I'm saddened by the arguments of 'don't do that (consolidate our school) because we have political clout.'" __._,_.___
