I would add that it is more important now than ever *to join* or *stay* a member of BFW for all of the reasons Chuck just highlighted.

However, at this point in time, with the board members who were on board as of January 25, 2007 still on board, I'll be giving the minimum to be keep my membership current. That way I can at least follow through on Chuck's point 2).

Darryl, I thought that was obvious (but then I thought my earlier post

1) if you have the time and inclination, consider serving on the Board
of Directors of the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin. Dar posted
earlier on this list how to apply to the current board for inclusion
on their endorsed slate of candidates.

2) if you don't have the time or inclination to serve on the board,
inform yourself about the candidates, and support someone who does. if
no one votes for candidates they prefer (and, historically, the number
of votes has been a fraction of the BFW membership.

(and, btw, if anyone reading the bikies list isn't already a member of
the Bicycle Federation, then why not? AAA says the cost of a car
averages $7000 annually. surely the fact that BFW is working to make
it easier to bike, easier to use a car less frequently, and easier to
save money on transortation should offset the basic $25 membership
dues. -limited income memberships are available, too. www.bfw.org)
