It seems fairly easy to use BFW's web site to publish all candidates and statements. Board-endorsed candidates could be highlighted or something (though my tendency is usually to not vote for endorsed candidates). You can't have a democratic election if those who wish to run and are not approved by the board have no way of campaigning or contacting the membership. So, in addition to working on revising bylaws, I would hope that BFW could look at some revisions to the website - maybe a "members only" section, if necessary where information for members - from bylaws to current organization news - is available and contact with board members is facilitated.

While I support the board policy of endorsing those candidates that we believe
to be best suited to fill the current needs of the group, we will review ways
to ensure that all qualified candidates will have the opportunity to run for a
board position, such as placing unendorsed candidates on the ballot.

The review and possible changes will be complete prior to the 2008 nominating
process. Your continued input is invited and welcome.

Thank you for your understanding.
