All. I have been following the 2007 BFW election discussion with great interest and I believe some good points have been made.
The 2007 election is being conducted in accordance with our current by-laws, but I also recognize the older policy as stated on the front page of the Winter 2003 Wisconsin Bicyclist. Unfortunately no late changes can be made for the 2007 elections, however I have requested that the new by-laws referring to elections and all past policies be reviewed at our first BFW Board meeting in 2008. Edith Merila, board president, agrees with my request. I anticipate that by-law changes will be made, if necessary, and that the board will develop clear policy. While I support the board policy of endorsing those candidates that we believe to be best suited to fill the current needs of the group, we will review ways to ensure that all qualified candidates will have the opportunity to run for a board position, such as placing unendorsed candidates on the ballot. The review and possible changes will be complete prior to the 2008 nominating process. Your continued input is invited and welcome. Thank you for your understanding.
