Waaaaayyyy back in the early spring of this year, the staff and members
of Bike Fed were told that the board was going to set up a series of
"town hall meetings" around the state. These had a number of goals:
* Outreach to members in general, something tough to do in areas outside
the Madison and Milwaukee areas.
* Get a feel for what was important to members
* Let members know the vision of the board
* other? (I can't remember.)
I thought this was a fantastic idea, and eagerly awaited the town hall
meeting in Dane County. I kept asking when it was going to happen. As
time went by, especially as summer went by, I called a couple of board
members that I know, as well as several remaining staff members, and
suggested that it was crucial to reach out to the Dane County
membership. My calls became increasingly urgent. Finally, Jay Ferm got
permission from the board to set up a meeting in Dane County. He got
sick, and then had to fly to Interbike, so I don't know any more details.
All this is to say that the idea of a town hall meeting has been "in the
works" for quite some time. My understanding is that one WILL be held
fairly soon in Dane County. If members want further information, I would
suggest calling our board president, Edith Merila to ask when and where
it will be held.

Troy et al,
I agree that it would be a good idea to have an opportunity to get
together & discuss issues, goals, concepts, etc. I'm sure we could put
something together & I'd be happy to help arrange something in the
near future. If anything, we could set a mtg date/time/venue & then
hope some folks show up...
