Troy,

Red light running cameras have been considered in Madison. To make a
long story short, we need enabling legislation from the state to grant
us the ability to ticket the owner of the vehicle for these violations.
Madison Police and others are working on this.

Totally unrelated to the election issue (or is it? perhaps Candidates
should put traffic safety issues and ideas on their pitches)

A question...has Madison ever discussed cameras at dangerous
intersections for writing tickets? After almost being destroyed TWICE
this morning going and coming back from Downtown by large SUV's blowing
through the red light on University at Highland...entering the
intersection at least 2 seconds AFTER the light change and flooring it
to 40 mph plus it's apparent that we should consider....since the Police
don't have the time to do a lot of traffic safety and poorly designed
intersections like this one is for the volume it handles sort of become
Wild West Land, there have been several incidents, including a fatality
at that corner...I'm just glad I'm quick, ride somewhat defensively when
necessary and have new brake pads or I'd a been one.

In Chicago, these have had pretty good impact on traffic...we should
consider here.
