I agree, and hold that the inverse is also true.  IOW, if BFW doesn't
support rules that encourage bike-friendly development, BFW is not
fighting for the interests of bicyclists, and not living up to its
mission.

Similarly, if BFW wants to fight for the interests of bicyclists, then it
needs to become an organization advocating a much stronger and vocal
position in support of the environment. Bicyclists (and pedestrians) are
more vulnerable to environment pollution and adverse climate change, for
after all, it is through the outdoor environment though which they must
ride.  

The BFW should stop hiding from its responsibilities of beginning a
strong advocate for a safe and healthful environment (against pollution,
global warming, excessive driving and highway building) and start doing
what's right.  This will require it to change.   

Changes are gonna come, regardless.  The BFW can help make the changes
positive, rather than negative, by speaking up on these issues NOW.
