Richard:
People give money to organizations for lots of different reasons, but I
assume that the biggest is because they believe in what the organization
stands for and/or the work that they do.

At the moment, it has not been made clear what the Bike Fed stands for.

As for whether people should give money to groups that they don't agree
with...why would/should they?

Further...is what you care about really whether or not the Bike Fed gets
money...or do you care about whether or not Wisconsin becomes a better
place to bicycle? I'd say that, if the Bike Fed doesn't understand that
there is an important connection between land use and transportation,
then they aren't qualified to represent bicyclists. I'm not saying
that is the case...but if it WERE the case, that would be a problem.

This doesn't mean that Bike Fed should FOCUS on SmartGrowth issues...
or that they even have to use that word if it is a hot button. But
in order to make communities bikeable, there has to be a connection
between land use planning and transportation planning.

The fact remains that, whether you remember it or not, the words SmartGrowth
have been on the BFW website and in the membership brochure for at least 6-8
years. Therefore, if people were against it...they would not have given
money up to this point. The change is the REMOVAL of this word...not the
addition. Shouldn't you be asking if people who SUPPORT SmartGrowth and
environmental issues (you brought that one up) are going to STOP giving?
