Dear Peter Brinson,

Again you don't seem to get the drift of what I have said. This time it was
applause and that "bicycling" has a "debt of gratitude" to the Schwinn name
and the Chicago Schwinn family for providing a bicycle--the balloon tire
bicycle--which was popular with consumers and was in every household with
children. I made no conclusions about the affects of our current race for
equipment or the marginalizing of bikes for children into worthless toys. I
leave that for sociologists.

So, tell me what GM and Ford had to do with bicycling in the 1940s and
1950s?

Eric
