Yes, the money that was to be used for Monroe/Regent/SW Path
reconstruction will be used for infrastructure in the Allied Drive
area. Brian Solomon and I were both sponsors of this budget amendment.

Arthur is also correct, that the intersection reconstruction was
postponed because "it isn't soup yet." And the money "can be allocated
to other projects." The other projects in this case are ones that need
to be done in Allied.

This budget amendment also helped save $3 million from the Affordable
Housing Trust Fund. The Mayor had originally meant to use the AHTF
money for streets in Allied. After he ran into considerable resistance
for this plan, including the fact that our ordinances do not allow
such a use, he wisely looked around for another way to fund the needed
infrastructure. Monroe/Regent money is part of that.

I am glad to postpone the Monroe/Regent project so we can come to a
consensus on the best option for this important multi-modal
intersection.
