Bikie friends - If you are interested in having a say on regional transportation of all kinds, please read the notice below. The CARPC is the new incarnation of the regional planning commission. An RPC is supposed to do land use planning for the entire metropolitan area and develop plans that the Metropolitan Planning Organization (a transportation body only, on which I sit) uses to make transportation funding decisions.
RPCs are a bit tough in Wisconsin, since each municipality or town can legally do their own zoning (or not, as the case may be), but in theory, the RPC should lay out what Dane County will look like in the decades to come. If this sounds like something pretty important, and something you want to weigh in on, you are right! Hope to see lots of familiar faces there. My alder account remains active, and city business should be sent there. ******* Commissioners, local officials, and other interested parties: The Capital Area Regional Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, January 24, 2008 to take testimony on a proposed amendment to the goals and objectives of the Dane County Land Use and Transportation Plan and on a proposed amendment to the Dane County Water Quality Plan revising the policies for urban and limited service areas and environmental corridors, and criteria for their amendment. The hearing will take place at 7:00 p.m. in room 201 of the City-County Building in downtown Madison.
