Any idea what species of trees these are?

They could be an invasive species such as Norway Maple or Black Locust which would make their removal an extremely good thing, or they may be a desirable native species such as any oak, meaning that they should be protected at all costs.

I got this from the Bombay list and thought others on Bikies would be interested as well.

Hello,

A little bird told me that the Town of Dane is considering cutting down the trees along Fellows Road and Lodi-Springfield Road (because of a few dead branches that they consider hazardous). Those are among my favorite roads to ride on, precisely because of the overhanging trees that almost form a tunnel. It would seem to make more sense to just trim the dead branches, and several area residents have volunteered to do so. Nevertheless, the town wants to cut them down, and is having a meeting at 8 PM Monday night (at the town hall – the blue building on Hwy. 113 in Dane) to discuss it. If you want those roads to remain the way they are, please try to make it to this meeting and support the trees!
