More transportation-related snippets from the Cap Times (I misattributed
the previous articles to the Wisconsin State Journal!)

Richard Brown Sr.:

"Brown wants to see incentives to businesses to encourage car and bus
pooling for employees, according to comments made to the League of Women
Voters, and also put a cap on Metro Transit rates if and when a regional
transit authority is established in Dane County."

According to the anti-RTA folks, Brown is a "Trainiac"

Ronn Ferrell:

"Spending millions for a train running through Madison from Middleton to
Sun Prairie will do little if anything to resolve transit problems," he
said in comments to the League of Women Voters. "The train will never
pay for itself or improve transportation."

I wonder if Ferrell realizes that automobile capacity doesn't pay for
itself (68% of local road expenses are funded via property taxes
according to 1kFriends).

Lisa Subeck:

Not much on transportation in this article, though clearly the
information was available to TCT - I found it on the LWV site:

http://wicip.org/lwvdc/ansdane15.html

"Dane County absolutely needs to take a regional approach to transit and
transportation. The City of Madison, Dane County, and surrounding
municipalities must work together to reduce traffic congestion and cure
traffic safety problems in our neighborhoods. A Regional Transit
Authority (RTA) may provide the tool needed for a collaborative approach
to road and transit improvements.
Formation of an RTA is dependent upon enabling state legislation,
possible federal funding, and voter approval through referendum. I
support allowing County residents the opportunity to vote on the issue.
I also favor improved and expanded bus service as a sensible transit
option."

Lisa sounds like she gets transportation at a deeper level than the
other candidates.
