Looks like the City has not gotten around to sanding the path under East Washington yet.
How about we take this job on ourselves? There is a blue plastic barrel at the SE corner of Riverside and Winnebago that contains sand and a plastic bucket to use as a scoop. If 4 people who normally use the Yahara path take a plastic bag (like the bags that the newpaper comes in) with them, fill the bag with sand on their way in, then spread some sand under the East washington bridge, I'll bet we can cover a 3 foot wide section for the length of the bridge. I already made one pass this moring which currently covers about 1 foot of width under 1/2 the bridge. With 3 more passes along the same path and some scattering due to bike/ped traffic under the bridge, we can make this a lot safer. > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: Sheet of Ice Alert: Yahara Path under Eash Washington. > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Date: Tue, February 19, 2008 3:02 pm > To: [email protected] > There was an absolutely treacherous stretch of bare ice on the Yahara > Path under East Washington at 10 am this morning.
