These underpasses are below the dam of Mendota and in the Monona Watershed.
Monona has a new record high elevation, not the regional flood but it came
within 0.15 feet of the 100-year flood.

Hopefully, with no major rain events, we can get the lakes down by about 0.10
feet every two days. Its going to take weeks to get back to specified levels
for both lakes.

We knew that the Johnson Street Underpass was susceptible to flooding but we
could not raise the existing bridge without razing the existing bridge.

Subject: [Bikies] Yahara path flooded.

Both underpasses on the Yahara path are underwater today. The Johnson
Street underpass has about 8-12 inches of water on it (still passable by
bike if you have clips/cages and pedal with one foot). The E.
Washington underpass has about 3 inches of water over it (quite passable
with reduced speed).

Lake Mendota is currently about 4 1/2 inches above the 100-year
floodplain elevation

I visited the Tenney Locks today. It looks like it is impossible to
reduce the flow in the Yahara enough to keep the paths dry since waves
are frequently overtopping the spillway gates. Water is covering the
corners of the parking lot near the swimming area. It appears the
volleyball area is below the water table (full of water). There are
also sandbags set out to prevent wave-induced erosion along the
shoreline near the foundation of the locks. It appears we are about 6
inches or less away from Tenney Park becoming part of lake Mendota.
Lets hope it stays dry for a while!
