We're taking the art bikes out for a spin to help celebrate the opening of a new link in Madison's expanding network of bike paths. If you'd like to ride a groovy art bike in the parade, we'd love to have you. (email me now and get first choice of the bikes! or call Ann @ 698-3525) Or just decorate your own bike, or your own self, and ride with the Madison Art Bikes.

The event is on Friday morning. August 8th.

Here's the complete information from the event coordinators:

Campus Drive Pedestrian & Bicycle Path Grand Opening: August 8th

Please join us in celebrating the grand opening of the new Campus Drive Pedestrian and Bicycle Path. Designed and developed by UW Madison Transportation Services, this safe and convenient pathway makes connections from west side neighborhoods into the heart of the UW Campus. On August 8, 2008, join your neighbors, coworkers, Bucky, and the UW Band in a parade from University Bay Drive along the rail line to the artful new bridge over Walnut Street. Check out one of the nation’s largest solar lighting installations (provided by MG&E) along the way! At the bridge, you’ll hear from special guests, see MG&E’s solar energy exhibit, get bicycle commuting tips, enjoy kids’ activities, and more. UW Madison Transportation Services supports alternative transportation choices – please walk, bike, or bus to this event!
