PLEASE FORWARD TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED

Friends -

I am alerting you to a public hearing on the TOWN of Madison budget
happening next week. The reason this hearing is important is that the
funding the Town puts in for Metro Transit services directly affects the
services received by everyone who uses the Route 13 bus, including City of
Madison residents. Portions of the Route 13 narrowly averted being cut
recently because the County stepped in with last minute funding. That
funding is unlikely to happen again, so the Town of Madison must make the
decsion to fund Metro service.

The Route 13 spends a great deal of time in the Town of Madison. Because of
the lack of through roads in the area, the buses (and any motorized traffic)
have to go through the Town of Madison in order to reach the City of Madison
areas north of the Beltline between John Nolen and Park St. In order to be
fair to all the other municipalities that receive Metro service to their
areas, the Town of Madison must pay to have the bus go through it's
territory at the same rate that Middleton, Verona, or other jurisdictions
pay.

Please speak at the Town of Madison budget hearing to make sure they fund
Metro service. We all know the areas served by Route 13 are very transit
dependent. Reliable bus service is vital to people in these areas.

Please pass on this message, or another version, to others that might be
interested or willing to testify.

Thanks.

Robbie Webber
City of Madison Common Council, District 5
Transit and Parking Commission member
