I know it's been a few weeks since the mitten/handwarmer thread, but
I've just noticed that my favorite hand warmers are once again available
from REI:

I have four of these and on nasty days like today I stick one in each
boot and mitten. They're good for about half an hour, then a few minutes
of boiling to "reset" them.
