We all know that commercial radio, especially AM talk radio, and especially
the drive-time morning shows (that title says volumes) are mostly trash. But
I refuse to allow hate speech against any group go unchallenged. As someone
else mentioned, this type of venom would never be tolerated against a
racial, ethnic, or religious group.

It is simply NOT OK to advocate violence of any sort, and especially against
a group of people as a whole. Radio stations broadcast on the public
airwaves, under a license from the federal government to use a public
resource. I don't listen to trash radio, but ignoring it doesn't make the
problem go away. These broadcasts give may give permission to listeners, in
their small, less than analytical minds, to be less than cautious around
bicyclists. We have to stand up and say this is not acceptable.

Can you imagine someone listening to this broadcast or similar comments as
they make their way up some local road on their way to work, already pissed
off about their crappy job, the economy, family problems, or "traffic?" Then
a bicyclist is in front of them while the DJ jokes about dooring or how
bicyclists are "taking over." As one "host" suggested while I was a "guest"
on his show:
"Do you ever want to wear a bicyclists as a hood ornament?"

What sort of suggestion is that to the above mentioned driver? It's the
modern day equivalent of suggesting a lynching. "They need to learn some
respect for their betters."

Too extreme? What would you call it?
